This German red Cabbage recipe is the perfect side dish to pair with a warm and hearty meal.  Made using red cabbage, apple and winter spices this healthy German-inspired recipe would be delicious alongside Christmas dinner, for Thanksgiving or served up dinner parties.

Add some colour to your table with this festive side-dish.  Not only is this red cabbage recipe delicious, sweet and crunchy but it is also just 104 calories per serve!

GERMAN RED CABBAGE

This delicious bavarian inspired red cabbage recipe is made with similar spices you would use in Gluhwein or mulled wine which is which I have called this recipe German red cabbage.  It is perfect for a cold day and is delicious on its own or with Vegan Sausages & bratkartoffeln which is a hearty Traditional German potato dish.

Red cabbage is super healthy for you and I love to cook using this very tasty and versatile ingredient for its taste and health benefits. And if you love healthy recipes that use red cabbage as the main ingredient then check out this tasty vegan slaw recipe.

This German red cabbage recipe can be served with many different dishes such as Vegan Bangers and mash, alongside a traditional Christmas roast dinner, or simply enjoyed on its own.  It is sweet and sour and slightly spicy, this bavarian cabbage is full of flavour and is really quite easy to make too.

…Add some vegan bacon, smoked tempeh or some tofu for some plant-protein or serve it as it is.

RED CABBAGE AND APPLE

The sour taste is taken out of the red cabbage by adding some grated apple which makes the flavour naturally sweet.  Apple also goes really well with some of the different spices that are used in this recipe.

Red cabbage and apple is a traditional Bavarian dish called Rotkohl.  It is a recipe which I have adapted from my husband’s side of the family who is German / Polish.  This authentic red cabbage and apple recipe can be found all over Germany and is a great way to enjoy some healthy vegetables.

There are so many reasons you should make this delicious healthy and vegan side dish. Red Cabbage is nutrient-dense and low calorie, making it an excellent choice if you are trying to lose weight. It’s packed with Vitamin C and vitamin K and great for your digestive system as well as being high in dietary fibre!

Here at Healthy with Danny from San Jose, CA and Beyond, we're all about responsibly enjoying, brewing, sharing and promoting delicious craft beers and the Independent craft breweries and homebrewers that brew them. We're about community, diversity, inclusion and celebrating what makes craft beer awesome. And we're about education, learning and advocacy. Maybe converting too ;) Generally being responsible, fun loving and positive. It's also about transparency, being honest, genuine, authentic and true.

But when shit goes down and it's downright wrong. When craft beer and everything that makes it great is co-opted by Global entities in the name of trying to still look relevant and trying to be hip, I always believe in calling BS out, telling it like it is, holding things to account and boycotting. Especially when it comes to jackin' brands of non-willing participants in greasy Megacorporate schemes. It creates division too. It's not cool.
No control/no monitoring/no accountability. Honestly, it upsets me.

I will always be honest and true, especially when the evidence is there.

Cheers !
