This Pizza Dough is super easy to make and once you know how to make your own pizza bases, you will never want to buy a ready-made pizza again! Pizza dough is naturally vegan and takes around 15 minutes of preparation work. You will need approximately 1 hour and a half for your dough to be ready to roll for a pizza. You can sit back and relax while your dough is rising and prep your ingredients for the pizza topping. Pizza dough is free from eggs and dairy making it the perfect vegan dinner recipe.
As you may already know, I hate buying ready-made things and love making everything myself from scratch. not only does it taste better to have homemade food but it is also healthier for you as well as being more budget-friendly.

An Italian friend of my husbands came over to our place to teach us how to make Pizza Dough. Along with Broccoli Polenta. so, this is one of a couple of recipes on my blog that I can not claim as my own, although I have adjusted the ingredients slightly. This recipe also works well is if you want to make focaccia instead of pizza.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO MAKE PIZZA DOUGH
Making homemade pizza dough is super easy to do. You will just need to allow yourself enough time for your dough to rise. It’s best if you cover your dough with reusable wrap and keep it in a warm place and wait for the magic to happen. As you can see, the ingredients are very basic and budget-friendly. Pizza dough is also naturally free from eggs and free from dairy making it one of the best vegan recipes.
- Self Raising Flour
- Dry Yeast
- Salt
- Sugar
- Olive Oil
- Warm Water
- A Very Hot Oven
Highlight – A very hot oven. You will need to have your oven on as hot as it will go, or if you are lucky enough to own one then you can also use a woodfired pizza oven which brings the best results. I have also tried making homemade pizza in the Webber bbq!
HOW TO MAKE PIZZA DOUGH
- Preheat your oven to 250 Degrees C
- Add your warm water, sugar and yeast to a cup and leave to stand for 3 minutes
- Place your salt and flour into a large bowl and mix them together
- Pour in your yeast mixture into the flour along with the olive oil and mix together
- transfer your dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead until the dough is soft and springy
- Add a little olive oil into a clean dry bowl and place your dough in the bowl. Cover with reusable wrap and a tea towel for approximately an hour.
- cut your dough in half for two pizzas and roll out to your desired shape using a rolling pin. you may need to add a little more flour so that your dough doesn’t stick to the rolling pin.
- Cook Pizza in Oven for 10-12 minutes or until the crust begins to brown
